ARTIST STATEMENT |
| |
Kerrie is an environmental abstract expressionist painter. Kerrie’s work explores the ‘sensation’ of environment on a molecular level. Through energy, movement and paint, the sensation is recorded in the moment of action painting. In Kerrie’s ‘Bushfire Series’, the fire flowed out onto the canvas naturally through this process on a subconscious level. The after effects of the fire, the force of nature, the heat and the fragility of her own existence exploded onto the canvases resulting in Fire Bugs in Action, Firewall, Line of Fire, Fire Bug 1, Fire Bug 2, and Caught! Fire Bugs under Glass. |

BRIEF C.V. AND BIOGRAPHY |
| |
Born in 1968. As a young child Kerrie lived like a gypsy moving from place to place with her family. Kerrie completed a Diploma of Art in Ceramics which led her to painting classes. Kerrie’s aim as an Abstract Expressionist is to bypass self-censoring thought. It is the ‘formless’ the ‘essence’… the ’sensation’… that intrigues Kerrie. She works towards a fine balance, a climax and allows the painting to take on a life of its own. |
